5 Signs You Need a New Water Heater

If you’re seeing these warning signs, don’t wait for a leak to flood your basement. Call us! We’re here to help.

  1. Age. If your water heater is more than 10 years old, start researching replacement options now.
  2. Bills. Higher bills even when there have been no changes in your household probably mean your aging water heater is working harder — and less efficiently — to do its job.
  3. Rust. If the water is clear from the cold tap, but rusty from the hot tap, it’s a good indication that your tank is corroding. See rust on the outside of the tank? Time is running out.
  4. Water stains. Hard water will shorten your water heater’s lifespan. New or increased white stains on utensils and glassware indicates long-term mineral buildup in your tank.
  5. Noise. Growling and gurgling from a water heater are never good signs. They indicate sediment buildup due to poor maintenance.
